northern lights aka aurora! last saturday i finally managed to catch sight of it~ it was a marvel. we were waiting for it on friday night till 3am but it didn't show up. then mike told us that there was actually a mild one at 5am, which stunned us upside down. after we finished our dinner around 9pm, we went to our rooms and xiaomeng called me and as usual i popped my head out of the window. "look! aurora!" went an excited xiaomeng and immediately alan came dashing into my room from the living room. the cameras were whipped out and not content with the view from our windows, they dashed downstairs to the carpark. in the freezing cold no less! they were certainly enthralled because they were dressed in their shorts and tshirt in that weather!! the aurora was green and flickered on and off in the clear dark skies.
after that we went to julian's birthday party at block 11. wild party hahaa. the birthday guys kissed each other and did lots of crazy poses for the camera. it was enjoyable talking to the guys there and i got to know this french named benoit. he was in lulea for a week to visit his friend=)
checked out the STIL sports center on sunday for floorball! to my disappointment a membership card is needed and it doesn't come cheap! frustrating, ntu students should enjoy the src facilities since it's so cheap!!!!! but the courts are nice with their flooring. it's the type where we use in floorball..forgot the term..gerland or something..there's indoor soccer goalposts! we went there yesterday evening thinking that we wouldn't be able to enter but hey, the gantry was open and we walked in and joined the people there for a game. i didn't play though. their style was agressive and fast pace soccer. not for me~ think they didn't enjoy themselves though as we were at the field at 9pm playing until 10pm! hah! our 99kr ball is going flat~
weather has been bad recently with strong winds and dark overcast. looks like it'll be raining later too.
the teletubby land offers some nice place to relax and look at the lake and i cycled down to another spot far away from where we stay on sunday too. exploring before winter comes=)
